Intramedullary lengthening nails

FITBONE? is an intramedullary limb lengthening nail which is specifically designed for femoral and tibial distraction.
It is used to compensate leg length discrepancies. With appropriate preoperative planning, it is possible to carry out axial and torsional corrections of the femur and tibia as part of extremity correction treatment.

FITBONE?: Operating principle

FITBONE? is surgically implanted in the bone. The implanted intramedullary lengthening nail is not connected to the patient’s body surface in any way. The power required for the distraction process is transmitted through the skin to a subcutaneously implanted receiver with the help of an external control set.

Custom-made devices

Certain features of all FITBONE? intramedullary lengthening nail designs can be adapted to each patient’s specific needs. Every version thus has a unique design and is custom-made. Each custom-made device is manufactured by WITTENSTEIN intens in close cooperation with the attending FITBONE? physician and fine-tuned to the patient’s individual requirements.
